This tutorial has been taken offline as a new, more proper version will be taking its place on Nov 2, 2009. Please come back next week to see the changes.
Thanks to everyone for their support.
Old information, now obsolete... NOTE: This is a draft version.
I know I have been talking about doing this tutorial for a long time. It is still not 100% complete - in fact, only 40% - but I figured I should post this as a "thanks" to everyone for waiting for me to get all my material together.
This technique (1 of 3 techniques) can work with both Vue 6 and 7. But is restricted to Infinite and xStream, since some functionality is not available in previous versions though you are welcome to try.
Hope you enjoy it, and if you do use this tutorial to create something, I'd love to see it. Drop me a note!
Happy rockin'.
PS. A very good example of a HyperTerrain can be found in the "Cave" scene I made which is available on the Vue extras CD sample folder. The cave is a HyperTerrain itself.
I tick the "Displacement Mapping" box in the Bumps tab of the material i'm applying to a random sphere. It updates like I want in the material editor, but not in the preview render viewport. When I render it out, there's no displacement and when I go back to the material editor it says displacement mapping is off... it does this every time!
You might need to apply the latest available update to your Vue. For 7, it is 7.4. For 7.5, there is a bug fix available that should take care of this.
Where is Your tut ? I see only images coming soon. Could You reupload ?
Greetings
